Gate Valve นั้นเป็นวาล์วที่อาศัยการยกผนังกั้นวาล์วออกจากทางน้ำเพื่อเปิดหรือปิดการไหลของน้ำในระบบดับเพลิง โดย Gate Valve ที่นิยมใช้ในระบบดับเพลิงนั้นจะเป็นแบบ Outside Screw and Yoke (OS&Y) มีทั้งแบบผลิตจาก Bronze และ Ductile Iron ขึ้นกับขนาดของวาล์ว และสามารถติดตั้ง Indicator Post เพื่อแสดงตำแหน่งของวาล์วเมื่อติดตั้งในจุดที่เข้าไม่ถึงเช่นใต้ดินได้
